Following the great success of the exhibition "The origin of Still Life. Caravaggio and the Master of Hartford", the management of the Borghese Gallery has extended the exhibition until March 12, 2017.As a result of huge demand for reservation to visit the exhibition "The origin of Still Life. Caravaggio and the Master of Hartford", the Borghese Gallery Museum will carry out special openings extending visiting hours up to 22 on Fridays and Saturdays . 
The exhibition ends Sunday, February 19, do not miss this opportunity!!!
The Museum will be open on Friday and Saturday until 22 pm with last entrance at 20.30 pm.

The exhibition aims to examine the pictorial art dedicated to Italian still life at the end of '500, with particular focus on the XVII century Caravaggio works. Among the top paintings there is also the 'Basket of Fruit', provided directly by the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana in Milan and work that officially starts the the genre of still life as a unique protagonist disconnected from the human figure.
In addition to the paintings by Caravaggio, will also be exposed some paintings on canvas of the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford, as 'Pots of flowers and fruit on the table'.



 The figure of the Master of Hartford remains still full of mystery and even now discussing about his possible identity. In this regard The purpose is to investigate the background of the still life in Rome at the end of '500 and the development brought by Caravaggio few years later. In addition to the painting borrowed from the Milanese art gallery there are also 'the Sick Bacchus' and' the Boy with a Basket of Fruit ', famous paintings by Michelangelo Merisi that enrich the 40 paintings on display until February, including' Flask spagliata with flowers' attributed to the Master of the flask of Forlì.
